The Pony Club at the End of the World

2020 - ongoing

The Pony Club at the End of The World is a puppet show in a suitcase about the apocalypse. But don’t panic, this is not Apocalypse Now…more Apocalypse Neigh!

Welcome to the village of Little Dribbling on the hottest day since records began, where it’s time for the annual village fete. Meet Winnie War, Polly Pestilence, Francine Fossil Fuels and Deena Death - just your average pony club girls causing chaos at the gymkhana. Prepare for vengeful vicars, terror in the trifle tent, and a Portaloo-related emergency. Warning: may include showjumping.

This downright stupid show uses puppetry, clowning, storytelling and bad juggling to laugh in the face of catastrophe. The End is Neigh.

For anyone over 5 who likes to be silly.

I made this show in 2020 at a suitcase theatre workshop led by Judith Hope, and presented an online scratch version at Beverley Puppet Festival that year. Since then, it has been performed live at Shambala Festival, the Kneehigh Barns, the Rosemary Branch, Beverley Puppet Festival and community venues around London, as well as a filmed version for Folkestone Puppet Festival.

Below is a trailer, filmed by Gemma Turnbull and Rich Armitage.

Here are some photos of the show. Photos 1, 2, and 4 are taken by Sian Herbert. Photo 3 is taken by Mark Morreau
